Well considering the recent events in the WRC it is worth remembering the former co-driver of Markko Marrtin, Michael Park, who sadly passed away just over a week ago. Having taken Markko from obscurity in the Toyota to WRC wins in the Focus, he was a well loved character in the WRC. Farewell Michael

Most definetly. He was a very well liked memeber of the rallying world. I still can't believe he is gone. Motorsports have gotten to that point these days that deaths are almost unheard of. The last rally related death was about 10 years ago if my memory serves me correctly. A sad event to say the least. RIP

I have read 12 yrs, but am unsure as to who was killed. I know that with the advent of new safety technologies the WRC has become safer than when Toivonen was tragically killed in '86. Unfortunately it is only the top-line rallies that have seen a safety record like this. Many National events have seen some of Europe's topline competitor's taken before their time.
"Beef"'s accident has been more painful for Peugeot as they had only just started work with the FIA to increase safety for side impact collisions
