On the Monte Carlo entry list you will see Chis Atkinson running in a WRC car. Pretty normal huh? Well Atkinson's entrant is none other than Subaru Australia. This is going to caus a massive stir among the Aussies for sure. Subaru quit the australian championship for no apparant reason. Now we might have a reason. Do you Aussies find it interesting how Subaru Aus (SRTA) have kept Dean Herridge and kicked out Champion Cody Crocker. You would think SRTA would have knwn ages ago they were pulling out but they still put Herridge into he recces in some WRC events. My theory is that SRTA did not have enough money to do both PWRC and ARC and did not have enough money fo 2 cars. So they quit to train Herridge. Herridge is on the Entry List for the Mt. Buller sprint but he also might appear on Targa Tasmania and Targa West and maybe even Targa NZ. Since SRTA are backing Chris in MC and probably tarmac events this might mean they might give Herridge a PWRC drive. You would think that SRTA would get a lot of feedback from tarmac and use it? It is set up pretty well for a PWRC attack.
This might work both ways with Le-Equipe France Team who ran Sarrazin. Sarrazin might be run in gravel events which Subaru WRC might not enter him into.
So Aussies. Be excited we might have 2 more men in the WRC (Dean Herridge and Bill Hayes)

It will be interesting to see how this develops. From my visit to Rally Australia, it was made quite clear that Herridge wanted to do some PWRC work and would be backed by Subaru Aust.-and tarmac rally's would be something that he wanted to have a real crack at. However, Crocker was virtually silent about his 2006 journey, he really didn't give much away at all. Except to say that he wanted to do some rallying in the Asian arena-he didn't say whether he would be with Subaru or not! So I find this "support" of Atko interesting-will Atko and Herridge be the golden children of Subaru OZ? Will Crocker go elsewhere? I find this hard to comprehend as Subaru and Crocker are Synonomous-guess it has to happen one day. I am not a huge Crocker fan-but I will admit the guy can drive and really has some guts. Herridge is the underdog-he's the up and comer, but if Subaru decide not to put some support behind Crocker they will do themselves an injustice I think!
